Big Business - Here Come The Waterworks

[4.5/5] The West Coast's premier power-duo Big Business are back, and if you thought 2005's Head For The Shallow was awesome, Here Come The Waterworks just punched awesome in the tits, stole its wallet and pushed it down three flights of stairs. To wit: Huge bass riffs tumble from the sky in a hailstorm of drum-fire as vocalist/four-string thunderfucker Jared Warren and plank-master Coady Willis unload future low-end super-hits like "Grounds For Divorce," "Shields" and nine-minute monster "I'll Give You Something To Cry About." Warren bellows like the giant from Jack And The Beanstalk after catching the unmistakable whiff of Englishmen, and a blood-frenzy ensues in which Warren and Willis steamroll through furious jam after furious jam, with little regard for what-or whom-might be trampled beneath their wheels. The resulting orgiastic epiphany is so face-ruling that it couldn't possibly be the work of just two dudes, and as it turns out, it's not: Get Hustle founder and frequent Melvins collaborator David Scott Stone lent his considerable guitar skills to the proceedings, giving Here Come The Waterworks a gleaming, triumphant midrange. Did we mention that Warren and Willis are also in the Melvins now? Well, they are-which has turned out to be a total bonus for both bands. So here's to hoping the waterworks have only just begun.
