[4/5] Although in most cases the art of the compilation has turned into the art of smart marketing, there was a time when comps were more than just label samplers--which is to say, they stood for something, as well as sold it. And while it'd be silly to think no business sense went into compiling Sub City's fifth Take Action! compilation--disc one is heavy on "scene" bands (e.g., Panic! At The Disco, Hawthorne Heights, Underoath) and pop wonders (e.g., Sugarcult, Plain White T's); disc two's bands (e.g., Against Me!, Lagwagon, Strike Anywhere, the Briefs) should placate cred police--the fact that proceeds are supporting the peer-counseling organization Youth America Hotline! (1-877-YOUTHLINE) at least makes the $5.98 you plunk down for the thing seem like a part of something bigger.
