HQ: Orange County, CA NOW PLAYING: Far Behind (prettyinstereo.com) THE STORY SO FAR: When drummer Jodi Joy answered an ad from singer Natalie Poole on Craigslist in 2005, the foundation was laid for a kickin', female-fronted rock act. The band have since earned gobs of accolades and spins on A&E and MTV shows while sweeping unsuspecting onlookers off their feet. "Most of the time, before we start playing, we notice a lot of skeptical people in the audience," says bassist Cassandra Clawson, "[But] usually the skeptical ones are the ones cheering the loudest as our last notes ring out." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Pretty In Stereo are first to admit that some girl bands suck, which is why they're avoiding that generalization. "We're not worried about being 'cute' or singing about lollipops and God-damned puppy dogs. We're playing rock 'n' roll, and we're doing it well," says Clawson.
