THE STORY SO FAR: "Therefore I Am was forged in the fiery pits of Mordor," says guitarist Brian Marquis. "Oh, wait. No. No, we weren't." The band's actual journey, however, isn't entirely without its own epic, albeit Hobbit-free, qualities. TIA managed to play more than 80 melodic post-hardcore shows in their first year (2004), record an EP and open for Paramore in their second, and embarked on a five-week U.S. tour-after replacing two members-in their third.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Yeah, the post-hardcore outfit take pride in their two front-page mentions on PureVolume, their spot on the Ernie Ball stage at last year's Warped Tour, and their studio time with hit machine Matt Squire. But what they take the most pride in is their live show. "The connection between us and the audience is real," says Marquis. "There isn't a separation aside from we're the ones throwing instruments around onstage." -Tim Karan
