HQ: Minneapolis, MN NOW PLAYING: Stand Strong EP THE STORY SO FAR: Frontman Jeremy Tappero probably never realized the irony in his band's name, since lack of attention almost led to their demise. Formed in 2000, Attention went on hiatus in 2003, allowing Tappero to play with New End Original, Onelinedrawing and Gratitude. When forced to choose between touring Japan with Attention or recording with Gratitude, he chose the latter, taking Attention's drummer, David Jarnstrom, with him. "That should've been the final nail," says Tappero. But when Gratitude went under in 2005, he and Jarnstrom refocused, adding guitarist/vocalist Eric Malmberg and bassist Bob Lindsey. WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Aside from their collective résumés (members have played the Coachella, Leeds & Reading festivals and recorded with Butch Vig and J. Robbins), Attention play some of the sunniest indie/power-pop this side of the Warped Tour main stage. "We make music for the right reason," says Tappero. "Because we love it.
