HQ: Brooklyn, NY
NOW PLAYING: Assorted demos
THE STORY SO FAR: There comes a point when an unsigned band run out of accolades to pile up. Brooklyn four-piece The Perfect Mistake are perilously close to that threshold. Forming in 2003, they've released two EPs, been the No. 1 unsigned artist on PureVolume four times and were named winners of last year's Steven's Untitled Band Search on Fuse. All of that in addition to opening for the likes of All Time Low and Cute Is What We Aim For.
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: While we would say it's because Irving Safdieh (vocals, guitar, piano), Joe Vaknen (guitar), Billy Mizrahi (bass, vocals) and Morris Betesh (drums) are poised to see their emotive and eclectic indie-infused pop reach new levels with their self-titled album in March, Safdieh offers another reason. "People ask us what's unique about our music," he says. "Our answer is, 'Aside from being four sexy, Jewish boys from Brooklyn? Nothing." [Tim Karan]
